Inappropriate?Hey there,
Can you please go back to this page and do a SHIFT + RELOAD? This will clear your local cache. Please let me know what the results of this are.
Thanks,
Dave

Inappropriate? It worked! Thanks! Why does the local cache keep the widgets from loading anyways?
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?this bug is still in the system ... the page refresh works for Firefox .... but not for IE or Opera. With IE, the first refresh works, but then reverts back to the scrolling wheel, in Opera totally ineffective.
I think this needs to be addressed urgently; it has been faulty for the last 12 hours. (separate issue from 3 days ago)

Yes, the control-refresh (or shift-refresh) problem is with us again. On some of my webpages that have widgets, when you first go to the page, they (the widgets) don't always appear. I use FF, so a control-refresh brings it up properly.
The same thing occurs when I try to edit a widget in my widgetbox account - it 'hangs' unless I control-refresh... -
Sounds like you're just doing a fresh reload. I'd do a hard refresh of your cache by dumping it all. The file is cached and corrupted locally.
Opera is not a supported browser. -
Hi Dave! if your customers have a complaint or issue, you should listen instead of trying to blame the user. For every complaint that goes reported, 100 people just give up.
1) this is a Different (but closely related issue) to the original one 3 days ago.
2) the widgets WERE working for Opera up until 24 hours ago. They were loading fine, supported or not.
judging by some of the responses on this forum, you guys are NOT very receptive about reported problems, nullifying the whole existence of this forum. If Users CAN'T use your product, they will just jump ship. They report problems because they CARE and LIKE what they see.
I am a Paying Pro member, but I will seriously reconsider my re-subscribe when the 12 months is up. I like your service, and would like to see it work ALL THE TIME.
thanks,

It appears that our browsers store/cache this stuff differently than we expect (not sure why it seems to affect the widgets and not other stuff, though...).
You've got to completely clear the browser's cache. I've googled enough about this to find out clearing the cache(s) within the browsers is 'flakey'). ADAWARE has a nice feature under their "+" (plus) options to clear cache, cookies, etc. from IE, FF AND Opera. I just used it (Adaware) to clear FF's cache and cookies - The widgets are working/loading MUCH better now...
ymmv, of course. -
Hey ggw,
I'm not trying to blame anyone. In the end, however, if you're using an unsupported browser, you're doing so at your own risk. We're hoping to add support for some of these browsers in the coming weeks, but currently we support the browsers that account for the top 98% or so of widget views.
If you can hit this URL in the browser, save the file it returns, and e-mail the file to support@widgetbox.com we can investigate further.

In the end, however, clearing the client-side cache is just a technical requirement. I'd love it if I could do everything on my side to fix issues, but it's technically impossible. -
Inappropriate?thank you!
my widgets are working again!
the code seems to have been patched, and is now displaying correctly in IE, FF, and also Opera.
it's taken a few days, but made me appreciate your service.
THANKS!
