Inappropriate?Ahhh!!! I have tested my other widgets and also created a new one to play with in case it was just the one I mention above that wont register a feed edit, and none of them will change the feed.
-
Inappropriate?Sorry you are having a problem. Can you give us the old and new feed urls so we can try it out? Thanks.
-
Inappropriate?Old Feed - Which is still showing on this particular widget =
http://blue-green-gem.u.yuku.com/feed/get/type/rss/source/blog/id/653406
New Feed =
http://portia-nicole.u.yuku.com/feed/get/type/rss/source/blog/id/650562
But 1) It is all my widgets that wont change
2) I even tried changing it to a feedburner rss feed, a twitter rss feed, the Daily mail newspaper feed.
I tried all those feeds to test and I also tried my other widgets. None of them pick up a new feed.
Thank you for your help.
I’m now in a panic as the feed needs changing asap

Inappropriate?Hey Zandranna,
Easy stuff: it looks like you're updating the blog URL instead of the feed URL. To update the feed, go to the editor and click "(more options)" next to your Recent Posts tab. You can update your feed there.
I was going to take care of this for you, but it looks like your new feed doesn't have any images in it, so Slideshow mode won't work the same way. I didn't want to mess with your settings too much without your knowledge, so I didn't change things yet.
The Blog/Site URL that you had modified at the top of the page is the place that your blidget will link to, so you'll want to update this to your blog URL.
Once you're done with the above, just hit Publish Changes and you should be golden!

Dave, here is one of my sites: http://www.rockfordlink.com/index2.htm You'll see errors on ALL of them, which are both feeds and blogs. When I log onto widgetbox every "example" displayed shows the same error. This is an issue with widgetbox. I've checked this on several computers in different locations with different IPs throughout the day. When will this get resolved? (A paying customer) -
Hey Bob,
We'll need to troubleshoot more to figure out why you're seeing this issue. Can you view this temporary page and let me know which if any blidgets work properly for you?
http://www.widgetbox.com/a5dE20090710... -
Inappropriate?Nope it's not that. I go to a post, click on the rss and take the url from the rss feed. I do not take it directly from the blog or the post.
If you click on both those urls in my above reply you will see they lead to the rss feed. Although having said that, the second one of those urls does lead to an rss feed that doesn't have images. I gave you the wrong one.
The correct url should have been
http://yuku-blog-ring.u.yuku.com/feed/get/type/rss/source/post/id/2353
I know that Yuku do have strange looking rss feeds, but ...
1) Why would the first feed work and the second not
2) Why would the feeds from other places such as the Daily Mail, twitter, feedburner etc, not work.
3) Why do none of my widgets work regardless of what feed I put into them. and I am putting the feed in and not the actual url to the webpages.
I have tried with Lists, summeries and with and without images.
I have tried every which way but loose.
This feed http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.rss
I have just tried as a list to include both summeries and images, and it still wont pick up any new feed.
Please feel free to play around with it as much as you like. I can let my members know that they might see some strange things in it for a while.
Thank you so much for your help. -
Inappropriate? So before I go digging around, can you just confirm one last time which feed you want the blidget to show? Thanks.
-
Inappropriate? This is the one that I would like it to show please.
http://yuku-blog-ring.u.yuku.com/feed/get/type/rss/source/post/id/2353
That url has actually been saved on the widget now, but it's not picking it up. It's still picking up the old url.
Thank muchly.
I’m feeling hopeful

The Blog/Site URL has been saved or the Feed URL for the tab? -
Also, are you sure that you want this as your Feed URL? This looks like a feed for 1 specific post, as there's only 1 post in it:
http://yuku-blog-ring.u.yuku.com/feed... -
Inappropriate?Hi, I see you have managed to do it.
Yes I did want that one specific post shown as I am using the widget for a specific weekly featured topic.
What was I doing wrong?? How did you manage to change it as I will be wanting to change it again in 7 days.
Thank you. -
Hmm, I just put in the feed into the URL for that tab. Not sure quite why it worked for me but not you, but it seems to be OK now. Next week when you try again, can you just let me know in this thread if you run into the problem again?
Thanks! -
Inappropriate? That is really strange, because I even tried in both FF3 and IE7 in case it had something to do with the browsers.
Thanks for sorting it. If I don't come back next week you know I am fine.
(((hugs)))
I’m more than happy with the support I have been given
-
Inappropriate?Hi I am trying to change that url again and it just wont change.
I'm trying to change it to this one
http://yuku-blog-ring.u.yuku.com/feed/get/type/rss/source/post/id/2381
I have added it and left that url in there but it simply wont change.
Last week I thought it might be my cache so I cleared that in both FF and IE.
I tried to change the url in both FF and IE
And this week I am even in a different location using a different ISP.
I honestly just can't figure it out.
I even tried changing it on someone else's computer.
Just to make sure I am doing it right.
I go into....
Developed Widgets
Edit Widet
Where it says Blog/Site I click to edit the url
Add the new url
Click Ok
Wait for "Processing Blidget"
When it takes me back to the edit page no changes have been made.
-
Inappropriate?Hey Z,
Sorry, that URL that you're changing is not the one. Here's your steps modified to work:
Developed Widgets
Edit Widget
(here's where it's different)
Next to RECENT POSTS, click "(more options)"
Update the URL in the lightbox that appears.
Click OK
Click Publish Changes

Inappropriate?I blooming knew it had to be something I was doing wrong. I just couldn't figure it out.
I am off now to check out where you are talking about.
I am so grateful for your help.
So could you tell me what that url is for that I was trying to change?? In case my messing about with it this last couple of weeks has removed an url that should be there.
-
Inappropriate?Sure sure (I was afraid that the info would be lost in our previous runaround):
That blog/Site URL is used for a few things, but the most important is that the title of your blidget will link to whatever URL you enter there. So if you look at your blidget and above the image from your feed, click that.
So you want it to be your main blog URL, generally speaking.
