Widget Will Not Install on Facebook
Hello,
I've been trying to install a widget on my facebook page for sometime, but it never works. I never get the installer just the profile option, which I don't want. Please tell me how to fix this problem.
Thank you

Inappropriate?Hi Charlotte,
Facebook pages are not supported. We're working to add support in the future.
-
Inappropriate?Well, I hope that future is soon.
-
Inappropriate? Then why on earth do you show instructions saying that you do and telling us to expect something that doesn't happen. Your instructions lead you to believe that you will be able to add it facebook.
-
Inappropriate? The more I think about this the more annoyed I get. I paid for this last night and now find that it can't serve the largest social network on the market? Come on guys.
-
Inappropriate? It also doesn't appear to install on myspace either.
-
Inappropriate?Andrew,
Since this thread started (1 month ago), we have rolled out support for Facebook Pages. That's why it's advertised on the site.
http://www.widgetbox.com/facebook/pages/
If your widget doesn't work on Myspace, it's most likely due to your widget not being a Flash widget, as Myspace only allows Flash widgets.
-
Inappropriate? You may now have support for facebook, but I am still unable to add a widget to my page. I never get the installer to pop up. I only get the 'share on profile' option. This needs to be addressed.
I’m still frustrated
-
Charlotte,
Adding a widget to a Facebook page is a very different process. Because of Facebook's lack of a page to post widgets directly to the profile, you have to make an app for the page, which is linked to above. -
Inappropriate?Your support only shows how to create a widget, which is not what I want to do. I have one that a friend made that I want to add, but I am unable to do so. Please tell me what to do.
-
Charlotte,
As I mentioned, you cannot post a widget to a Facebook page. Instead you have to make an app (which you embed a widget in).
For a Flash widget:
http://www.widgetbox.com/facebook/pag...
Any other type of widget, all you can do is post a link to the details page on your page, since Facebook doesn't permit Javascript. -
Inappropriate?Well, thanks but that doesn't help for people who don't know how to do that sort of thing. Your widgets are not worth if they can't be used.
-
I'm sorry if the solutions are too complicated for you to use. It's literally like 4 steps. We do our best to make them usable by anyone with any skill level, but if this is too complicated for you, I guess we're just out of luck! -
Also, I'll see if I can find some easier way to make this happen for you. There is one thing, but I'm not sure how long it would take to make happen or if it would even satisfy what you need. -
Inappropriate?I'd appreciate if you'd eliminate the step of making an app and make the widgets postable to facebook pages. Also, I do appreciate you taking the time to try to make this work. Thank you.
-
Inappropriate? Also, the steps for making an app are not apparent on the page. I click the link, but have no clue what to do from there. It would be very helpful if written directions were included.

Inappropriate?I agree with Charlotte - your site is deceiving. I work for a major agency in NYC and when I found you guys, I was momentarily impressed and started to ask staff to look at what you have. Then, we discovered that your widgets don't integrate into Facebook the way your instructions indicate, and I think it is insulting that you insinuate to Charlotte that 'it is too complicated.' As a company, you should be smart enough to realize you shouldn't insult your potential customers - what kind of a business model is that??
-
Inappropriate?Hi Jason,
What part of our instructions was deceiving to you? What type of Facebook compatibility did you expect?
Since this thread was closed (a month ago), we did in fact add a way to post a widget directly to a Facebook Fan Page without having to create an application.
In the end, if our support of Facebook isn't what your major NYC agency is looking for, that's unfortunate. Millions of users, large and small, use our tools to enable the syndication of their content. As with any product, you can't please everyone all the time. With a platform like Facebook, which changes it's policies every few months, and is generally restrictive of tons of external content, it's often better to pay the few grand to a web developer to make a Facebook app just for you.
-
Inappropriate?Wow man - you are really that much of a genius as to post replies like yours here for your visitors to read? I can't thank you enough. Speaks for itself.
As for your Facebook posting process, if you aren't smart enough to see what happens when a user tries to install it (I tested it on PC and MAC in IE, Firefox and Safari), then hats off to you guys - brilliant.
As far as paying a few grand for a developer - we are the developer. We make applications for Facebook, and thought your solution would make our marketing services more affordable on the back end side for smaller budgeted clients. I am an account director and have 2 developers on staff to pull when I need them. Keep talking down to your potential customers: you will go far. -
Inappropriate?Hi Jason,
You sound terribly upset. I'm not sure why you think that I'm talking down to you, but I won't worry about it too much.
Despite being upset, you're obviously unwilling to give me any feedback to help me, yourself, or any of our other users (potential or otherwise). An example of this feedback would be what you're actually seeing, as all of the browsers that you listed above (Mac and PC) are working properly with the Get Widget menu based on what I see, and on metrics. Again, if you're seeing something different, I can't offer support until you tell me your problem.
Thanks for the insults. People like you are what make people like me valuable.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Small

Inappropriate? Thanks for removing my comment and proving my point! I am sure you will remove this one as well, just making it even more obvious how embarrassing your conduct is, towards your customers. I disputed your action to delete my previous comment - hopefully you build a history of this and get banned from using "Get Satisfaction" as your support forum solution. Please remove this comment as well, and further prove my point. Either way, you look ridiculous - job well done sir.
I’m amused
