When I view my profile, I see posts that don't match my feed URL.
I'm having a problem with my new blidget. I finally got it up and running last week, but I see posts in my "profile" area that don't match the feed. My blog covers several topics. I wanted my blidget to focus on just the travel aspect of my blog (I'm in the "Travel" network). So, I put the correct feed URL into my blidget - the feed is like this: http://www.mysite.com/blog/category/v.... Because the "link" element of my feed says "http://www.mysite.com/blog", I had to put the network widget on my home page. However, when I navigate to "view my profile" on your site, I noticed that it is picking up all posts for the entire blog, not just the "vacation" category. However, my feed URL is correct and when I view the contents in the blidget, those are correct as well. Why is my "profile" section picking up the extra entries? Is this going to affect my ranking in this network if they have nothing to do with travel? Thanks.

Inappropriate?Hey Jason,
I know it's on the forum somewhere, but can you get me a link to your profile page again so I can take a look?
-
Inappropriate?Sure. Here you go: "http://www.widgetbox.com/network/travel/member/garretts-attic-blog/31556"
-
Inappropriate? So, i'm not sure how you changed the feed values and such unless you deleted and recreated your membership, but the blog URL and Feed URL in your membership are still your base blog, not just the travel section:
Feed URL
http://garretts-attic.net/blog/feed/a...
If you want me to update your blog and feed URL, I can, but you'll need to make sure that the link element in the feed matches the blog and that the link element on that page of your blog matches that travel-specific feed.

That is very odd, because that is not what I see. I certainly didn't create a new membership. How can my blidget possibly be showing the correct vacation entries then? The blidget is correct, but the posts directly in the network channel are wrong. Here is where I configured the settings. I went to "Edit my Blidget-->Edit Widget". I then clicked the "more options" link in the "Customize Content" section. The feed URL is currently set to "http://garretts-attic.net/blog/category/vacation-ideas/feed" which is correct. I then checked the "Blog / Site" URL right above the "Customize Content" section and it is also set to "http://garretts-attic.net/blog/category/vacation-ideas/". So, I'm not sure where you are seeing these values. Can you guide me to these?
Also, I thought that the "link" element in the feed was only used by widgetbox to validate that the network widget is installed on my web site? If it is also using it to show the feeds, what is the purpose of the feed URL in my profile? The "link" element in all of my feeds is currently set to "http://garretts-attic.net/blog" by default and I'm not sure if I have the ability to change this. -
Inappropriate?Hey Jason,
These are the blidget screens. I'm looking at your member profile on an admin screen. As I mentioned, the only way to change these values is to delete and create a new membership. Your member will not automatically be updated when you make changes to your blidget.
The link element is used to validate that your feed is correct. The link element on a web page of the feed type is what calls out the feed for a specific page. You'll want this all to match up. -
Inappropriate? Can you tell me how to find my member profile in the admin area? I clicked on "My Account" in the header and then tried to click the "Profile" button, but that button doesn't do anything. I've tried this with 2 different browsers already and nothing happens when I click that button. Unless, I'm in the wrong area?
So, basically, what you are saying is that even if the admin area has the feed pointing to my vacation category, it won't matter because the "link" element doesn't match. Is that correct? If so, would I be correct in saying that the only purpose of those settings in the bliget area is to control what actually appears in the blidget? And my profile in the admin area controls what people see in the network postings?
If I am unable to correct this, will this affect my raking in the Travel network? I assume the ranking deals with the relveancy of the postings.
Thanks.
