Remove the Get Widget button
I would like to know if there is any possible way to remove the Get Widget button from my widgets. I have been having difficulty sizing the widgets because this button is not included in the size when I am building a widget. I end up having to modify the sizes until the widget fits into the space I need it to fill. The button is a nuisance and I want to know how I can remove it!

Hey all,
You can now remove the GET WIDGET button from your blidgets. It's a Blidget Pro feature, so feel free to upgrade to remove the button. There's a checkbox toward the bottom of the Blidget Editor page to indicate whether you want the button to appear or not.

Inappropriate?Hey Jacob,
Sorry for your frustration, but removing the GET WIDGET button is not currently an option available. This button is what gives widgets their virality. Sorry that you're having trouble fitting the widget into the install location. We'll certainly take the feedback back that some users would like to remove this functionality.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate the quick feedback and the reason why it cannot be removed. -
Inappropriate?Same question. I'm more interested in providing the utility without the virality.

Inappropriate?<< This button is what gives widgets their virality >:>.
Last year when I downloaded a widget from this site, it merely placed a
WIDGETBOX tag, (just like that, in capital letters), underneath the widget.
Much more viral, in my opinion, and much less obnoxious. It still accomplished
the same purpose - to tell visitors to my blog where the widget came from.
Unfortunately, (for me), I will no longer be getting widgets from your site. The
GET WIDGET command under the widget is not something that I'll subject the people who visit my site to. -
Inappropriate?Virality is not to tell people where your widget came from... that's called advertising.
When you click the GET WIDGET button, it opens a menu (in most cases) that allows a user to take the widget with them. That's the point: so that if you come to my page, and see my Maukie widget, you can take it with you to your site.

Inappropriate?Wow -- a completely unconfigurable graphic element on my site that messes with my ability to correctly size the widget and PS looks like garbage. Great viral play. Bad design is not something I want my readers "taking with" them. I am gone for good.

Inappropriate?Hi Kateco,
Thanks for the feedback. We're not a white-label platform, so you may see some differences with us in regard to lack of branding. We do appreciate the feedback though, so thanks for the help.

Inappropriate?Afraid I have to agree with Kateco on that one. The button looks out of place. As a designer you have to have an exactness, or precise location for your objects or modules. I use Joomla, and it makes my professional template look poor.
I thought a widget would be a great to place on my site, but not with that button! It may be better to use "hover" and transparency as an option rather that a bulky button.
Your widget site is amazing, but sadly let down by this omission. Be viral yes! But be subtle too. Maybe the way to go is charge a little for widgets without the button. Then its win, win, win. -
Inappropriate?I would be prepared to pay a subscription in order to have the Get Widget button ommited from widgets. The button sometimes interferes with layout and creates empty space underneath th widget.
Just giving my feedback.

Inappropriate?I have the same problem with my site. I actually have three widgetboxes on my site, and with all of the "Get Widget" buttons on each of them, it makes the site look less attractive. I would also be willing to pay an annual subscription to widgetbox for the option of such button being removed.
-
Inappropriate? It would be better to have the button show in the widget when hovering the mouse over it rather than having it under. I want a rss scroller for my site which i saw on widgetbox but the button pokes out to much so can't use it. I agree with SuperMarion i would also even pay to have this removed.

Inappropriate?Yeah, you can stick it in a frame. But let's think about it first...
Let's see... The tab sticks out and affects the "squareness" of your page? LOL.
But seriously, it's actually a good feature if you'd like more people to download the widget. Their cute little widget downloader pops up and, so, really, anybody who stumbles through your site can copy the code. It's a good idea, from a marketing perspective, to use the "Get Widget" button to propagate the widget.
But I understand there are some applications in which such a feature is not desirable.
I'm sure you understand also that the only way Widgetbox is able to provide this service for free is by recruiting new members. -
Inappropriate?Another solution:
If you have MULTIPLE WIDGETS on a page, then create a Widget Panel. Just uncheck the "Show Get Widget links" checkbox.
That way there aren't any buttons to dislike, just a small widgetbox logo. Not bad. -
