please don't hate me... need to know how to make a popup from my widget...
Hi everyone,
I know this goes against net rules, I wouldn't ask this if I didn't have to.
I had a website, www.oscillation.info - it is for an electronic music festival I am part of.
Unfortunately, the man-child who was hosting it has either sold the domain, or is holding it hostage - either way, I can't get into it, have no DNS access to it, no FTP, nothing. The information on the site is out of date, and not displaying correctly, and the festival is coming up. I've already gotten a new domain, but I have promotional materials that read for the old domain. I need to get around that, somehow. The only real hope I have here is widgetbox. Why? Because I was using Widgetbox to embed the fest's tumblog in the sidebar.
So, what I want to ask, and again, I know it's bad form, but I have no choice here - is, is there a way to create a pop-up window from my embedded widgetbox widget, if I were to put the code onto the tumblog, or change the data that is being sent to the widget, in some way? I would want that popup to simply state the new website. It seems to be the only way that I could get into this thing right now, because all other channels are not working out.
I know this is rather sideways, and it's not something that I like - but I've been left no choice, because I can't find any way to get this domain back.
If no one has answers to this, I don't hold it against you, believe me!

Inappropriate?ok, i may be completely wrong here, i only joined this site today and don't know exactly how anything works, if you change the code for the widget here would the changes take effect on the website your widget is hosted on?if so then if the widget is html/js based, just add a javascript popup, e.g.
add this code to your widget;
< S C R I P T l a n g u a g e = " J a v a S c r i p t " >
a l e r t ( ' this website has moved to a new location ; www.newwebsiteaddress.com ' ) ;
< / S C R I P T >
(note:i've added a space between each character, just delete these spaces when entering it into the code)
This should set off a popup alert window as soon as the user enters your site.
This is just a basic example of course, you could customise this window to your likings.
http://www.w3schools.com/JS/js_popup.asp <- more info on javascript
Either that or just hack into the server an create a redirect to the new site..and just cause general mayhem on the rest of it..
I’m tired

Inappropriate?Hey Brian,
Pop-ups in widgets are a no-go. We don't allow them, so despite them being technically possible (and not too difficult), a non-user-initiated pop-up is not allowed.
If you're talking about user-initiated clicks popping up, just add a target to your link.
Sorry if I missed something here, but I'm having trouble finding in your post what exactly you need to do, and whether you're using a widget that you created or a blidget.
