Paid for Pro - Widgets NOT approved - really annoyed!
i have just had several e mails refusing all 10 of my widgets for submission as they all link to my site. they are not all adverts, they link to site activities.
i paid to go pro today and i am really quite annoyed at this.
when you say i can "keep" my widget - will people be able to add it to facebook etc from the "get widget" tag beneath them if they are displayed on my site? or is that useless too?
you encourage people to go pro to enable their widgets to be approved faster - and then this happens!
after paying you a fee today i would appreciate a speedy reply.
thank you

Inappropriate?Mary,
Yes, you can use your widget exactly as you could if it was listed in the gallery, but static text and images that link back to your site are not permitted to be listed in the gallery, regardless of Pro status.
Going Pro does not mean that the gallery listing guidelines do not apply. They just mean we'll review (not necessarily approve) your widgets more quickly.

Inappropriate?thank you for your prompt answer.
and the christmas countdown timer that i made through the PRO facility?
can you please tell me - will that be listed in the gallery? -
Yup, any Pro widgets that you mark as listed go directly into the gallery if you've opted in.
Looks like you're on the top of the list right now:

i am still confused and a bit irritated about my widgets not being approved. i can understand if you are 100% against "advertising" - although my widgets mostly simply linked to activities on the site - such as sending santa an e mail! - but having taken the time again this morning to check out your gallery - there are loads that are blatant advertising for money making businesses - such as "gap" for instance.
only one of my widgets linked to a page that is business orientated - the rest all linked to free activities.
how do you differentiate? -
There are legacy widgets in the gallery from before this policy was put into place. We don't actively police our gallery for these types of widgets, but when they come to our attention, we delist them. The only exception to this rule is paid promotion, at which time people are paying to be in the gallery for X amount of time. -
well, it seems that there are loads of widgets that link to people's sites in this way - advertising allsorts.
so - as i gave you a link to where my widgets were on my first post when i was having trouble getting the "get widget" button to work, i assume that you would have looked at them (before i went pro).
so, having seen them (and not told me at that point that there was a problem) could you now please tell me what i should do, as far as editing them goes, to get them into the gallery?
Is it a just case of losing the "click on this" text? other than that i cant see why they would not get in to the gallery as all the others have.
thank you -
Inappropriate?as a footnote to this - my partner just searched your gallery using "sales" as the search term and found he could buy anything from tupperware to mens underwear to real estate!
so i do NOT think that your reasons for rejecting my widgets are valid in the light of everything we have seen.
to highlight my rejected widget (one of ten) i mentioned before - how can "send a letter to santa" - for kids entertainment be rejected as "advertising" when you are approving such ads as above?!
your previous answer really doesn't cover this question!
what part of your terms and conditions allows selling houses but not a link to site entertainment? -
Inappropriate?Hi Mary,
I'm sorry that your widgets weren't approved, but regardless of what you and your partner have found in existing widgets, the fact still remains that static text and images that link back to your site does not qualify for gallery listing.
There are a ton of widgets that link back to people's sites, but the primary difference is dynamic content. For example, many 'sales' widgets drive their content from RSS feeds or other dynamic content.
I'm not sure how you'd like to change your widget. I'd suggest using it and just not listing it. You still get the SEO from your details page. The only loss is that users searching our gallery can't find it.
And again, I've said there is content in our gallery that doesn't meed current guidelines. As users bring it to our attention (e.g. send us a Problem Report), we review the widget.
