Is Ad-compliance necessary if I don't HAVE ads?
Re: ad-compliance. If my widgets are flash movies and DON'T have ads, do I still have to add the AS2 (or AS3) code? If I intend to include a link in the future so that someone can click through to buy a story, is THAT considered an ad? Thank you so much for this clarification.

Inappropriate?Hey Cris,
if your widgets do not have ads, you are already ad compliant. Generally speaking, a linkback to your site is NOT considered an ad, but if you are unsure when you ad this link, just let me know and I can clarify for you.
I hope this clears this up for you! Thanks for checking out the e-mail so quickly.

Inappropriate?Thank you. I'm very pleased with your reply and offer of future clarification. I understand some people who generate content with actual ads might be unhappy, but personally? Your service has been INvaluable for allowing us to make flash movies portable. If the content has a long shelf life, the ability to share is so sweet. Burden's on the content.
I’m thankful and pleased.

Inappropriate?Hi Dave:
I have a linkback to my home page for "further information". I love using widgetbox and want to be sure this is ad-compliant.
Could you take a look and let me know?

Inappropriate? This looks to me like attribution, not an ad. This is the stance that I'm taking with linkbacks, so you'd be OK with this.
If this ever changes (massive user-complaints around linkbacks), I'll be fighting it before we change that policy.

Inappropriate?Thanks Dave!
I love widgetbox. I appreciate the efforts you are all making on our behalf.

Inappropriate? On a similar note - my widget (recently updated) has no ads, but I've just received a comment about a pro-user still getting the Widgetbox ads (this is the first time I've heard about this). Is this possible?

Hey Alan,
Some users think the GET WIDGET button is an Ad. It doesn't look like they're talking about anything that you're doing. -
Ok - but I guess the best way to get rid of the 'GET WIDGET' button on my widget is for me (the developer) to pay for the Pro membership -- then all users of that widget will no longer be shown that (is that right?). -
Although that is an option, I don't think that you should feel obligated to do so. Users, such as the one that posted that comment, can upgrade to Pro themselves and are then able to turn off the Get Widget button as well. That user is a Pro user and most likely just missed the option to turn off the Get Widget button at the bottom of the form

Inappropriate?ok - got it. Thanks for the clarification. By the way, I requested a transfer of this widget a couple of weeks back (2217) - any idea how long it might take? (We can take this offline if necessary).
Thanks!
I’m grateful

That was my fault. It was assigned to me. I transferred the widget now. -
Excellent - thanks for all your help, as always.
