How do I connect my widget to a HTML Snippit in a website?
Trying to create a widget (HTML) that uses AC_RunActiveContent.js file in a server directory?
I added the HTML Snippit in to the editor and the file runs but needs to locate the AC_RunActiveContent.js in order to access the charting software I am using. I think I need to have the absolute path to the the folder so the widget can find the file.
I am not a programmer - I think I have reached my limit of understanding :o)

Inappropriate?Hey Rob,
If you're trying to run a flash file that uses AC_RunActiveContent.js, you'll need to host both the flash file and JS file in the same directory on your server. Then you'd want to make either an HTML/JS widget or Remote widget of the content.
Hope this helps!

Inappropriate?Yep, that's where I am with things - the thing I am having trouble with is getting the Widget code to see the folder that contains these files!
I tried with HTML/JS widget but struggled with how to point the widget at the folder - would Remote widget work better for me or will I still have the same problem?
-
Inappropriate?Hey Rob,
Well it kind of depends on what you're trying to do, but one option would be to make a remote widget and point it to your Flash file. Then, the flash file SHOULD know to look in it's own directory to find whatever resources it needs.

Dave, I have just tried the Remote widget - think this might have cracked it.
Much appreciated. -
Dave, thanks again for the direction - this really has worked well. I think I was trying to make it too complicated! With a little more tweeking I have managed to get the functionality of the charting to work as well.

Thanks again

P.S. is it possible to identify a specific region on a web page? -
Inappropriate?Hey Rob,
Nice! Currently, you cannot target an area of the page. There are tools out there that will allow you to do this, though! I can't recall which widget company out there has this (maybe Yourminis?), but I've seen it. So you may be able to make the widget with another service and register it with us.
