How can I get the network widget to work on freewebs blogs?

I can't get the network widget onto my Free webs blog. I know it's probably because it's a pre-set template blog with not sidebars, or any way of adding any type of application. Is there a way around this or am I going to have to find another way to build a blog page so I can use the widget.
