Inappropriate?Hi Ed,
Most likely, the issue is that your security settings for your browser are too high and blocking Javascript from running. You'll need to lower your security settings for this. This would be most likely if you're using Internet Explorer.
-
Inappropriate? It's happening on IE7, FF3, Chrome and Safari
-
Inappropriate?Ed,
So this is across multiple computers then? Where are you located geographically? Are all computers on the same network?
-
Inappropriate?Multiple computers on the same network (Comcast) on multiple browsers. I'm located in Minneapolis.
-
Inappropriate?Ed,
If you view the Activity window in Safari, do you see any files that failed to load?

Inappropriate?Hey Ed,
Sorry to delete your post, but I can't delete portions of it. Regardless, if you were getting all of those files, you should have what you need. The only other piece could be your network. I'm not sure why it would block something... but it is possible.
You may want to try from another network. I did verify based on metrics that this is working for everyone else, so it looks like some sort of issue on your side, as odd as that sounds.

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem - I have checked all browsers, lowered secutiry settings etc. Very frustrating - am located in New Zealand - has this problem been solved??
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Every time I try to add my widget (clicking on the Facebook graphic or on the "add widget" button) my screen goes hazy and then freezes. I've lowered all my security settings but it still won't work.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi Keeley, can you
1. visit this page: http://pub.widgetbox.com/flash/instal... (you may not see anything)
2. then hold down shift and reload that page (you should see our installer w/ a error message)
3. then go back to the widget and click the get widget button again.
thanks,
Giles -
Inappropriate?I'm having this same problem across multiple browsers - I click "Get Widget" and the browser screen goes gray until I click it again, but nothing else happens. I'm using AT&T/Yahoo DSL. I've used WidgetBox for months; this issue is recent and, ironically, started happening after I paid for a Pro account!
I’m frustrated that WidgetBox says "It's not a problem"
-
Inappropriate? This was posted in another thread, and worked for me, so I'm sharing it:
1. visit this page: http://pub.widgetbox.com/flash/instal... (you may not see anything)
2. then hold down shift and reload that page (you should see our installer w/ a error message)
3. then go back to the widget and click the get widget button again.
(thanks to Giles)
I’m satisfied
-
Inappropriate? Thanks for the advice; it's still not working on my end though. I cound't pull up the error message (shift/refresh)...

Inappropriate?Tony and Keeley. we Have been working with our network providers all day trying to address these issues. Can you please try these steps again. I am hoping the bad files have finally been removed from all servers.
1. visit this page: http://pub.widgetbox.com/flash/instal... (do you see anything?)
2. then hold down shift and reload that page (you should see our installer w/ a error message)
3. then go back to the widget and click the get widget button again.
If that doesn't work please tell me what page (URL) you are trying to get the widget from.
thanks,
Giles -
Inappropriate?http://www-origin.widgetbox.com/flash... Visited this page and got a message stating "There was a problem" "Unable to render main menu at this time". I have tried a variety of widgets with no luck. I use safari as a web browser and my security settings are set as low as possible. I have no firewall or security server between me and my ISP.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? Thanks, Giles; this works now! I am able to click "get widget" just fine. Thank you.
Separate question -- is there capability to add widgets to Facebook Group Page (instead of a personal profile page)? Trying to add this widget (our company blog feed) to our company's FB page... Thanks!
1 person says
this solves the problem
-
Inappropriate?Well, I wasn't having this problem until this morning - I tried the 'fix' (going to the test site) above and got the same results as Tony (2 post above). It ('get widget' or 'place widget' in my Widgetbox account) still fails on every widget (some in the gallery).
And a new issue...If I try to 'test and get' an existing (working) widget, I get to step 5 - "complete testing", and the 'Done' button is grayed-out and will not proceed - also the get widget button does not work here, either...
Don't know if it is related, but I did not have/notice this problem until this morning, immediately after I signed up as a widget developer (and got their API key) on Typepad (i.e. Typepad and Widgetbox are 'hooked' to each other in some way...).
FYI, If I click on an installed widget on my site, the 'Get Widget' feature DOES work.
I’m still coasting, but almost at a standstill.
-
False Alarm, maybe?
I did a 'clear-cache-refresh (I use ctrl-reload, shift-reload may work, too) - Again - and the 'get widget' and testing and test in flash wrapper are now working... -
Hello Suggestor, Thanks for posting the update. We did identify the issue yesterday an fixed the hardware device that was corrupting files. There could be users who have the corrupted copy on their local computer, we will be pushing a software fix to address that this morning. But if anyone sees and issue please try the shift+reload or ctrl+reload as described above. Thanks. -
Inappropriate? This issue should be all clear from everyone's cache by now. Is anyone still having trouble getting the menu?
-
Inappropriate? My customers and I are also having this problem -- when I am not logged into Widgetbox I get the loading circle instead of seeing the widget in Firefox 3.5.1 and I cannot get the Get Widget buttons to work with MSIE 7 and some customers cannot get them to work with Firefox 3.5 -- we have all tried the remedies above, we all have Flash 10 installed, all latest versions and updates.
I’m frustrated
-
Sorry, this is a long thread with a lot going on. What 'loading circle' are you referring to? If you describe how you get there in steps it'd be great. -
Inappropriate? The circling icon that is animated that appears whenever you are waiting for a widget to load on Widgetbox...it says "loading."
I had a widget that was setup to use the dynamic sizing feature. It worked fine -- resizing. However, if I was using Devleoper Tools to Edit the Widget or Test it, I only got the loading circle icon, and although I could get the code, I never could see the widget. This is also a remote widget.
Many people trying to use the Get Widget tab on this widget could not get the code. They would only see a greyed out screen and never would see the popup that presents the Embed code.
I had to remove the dynamic size feature on this widget for it to work for me in the Developer Tools. However, some people using MSIE 7 browser still cannot get the code snippet from the widget. I cannot get it using MSIE 6.0 (latest version) and I have tried everything to Refresh the browser -- i.e. SHIFT Refresh, clearing cache, etc. Please don't tell me to upgrade my browser on that machine -- it has to run Windows 2000 as there are many wonderful tools on it that do not run in higher O/S and your Website says you are compatible with MSIE 6. That O/S is not compatible with MSIE 7 or 8. Lots of people still use MSIE 6 and as a considerate developer, I design for that platform as well as newer ones. -
Inappropriate? Here is the current widget installed (not using dynamic sizing -- a feature we really need for this widget):
http://cadesert.ibrochure.net/press_r...
If you click Get widget it goes to our viral installer page. In MSIE 6 if I then click Get Widget on the viral installer page, the screen greys out and I cannot get the code. There is no pop-up. -
Hey Steffanie,
Thanks for the extra information. We think you may have a bid file cached. If you could visit this URL:
http://pub.widgetbox.com/flash/instal...
Then clear your cache of this file with a SHIFT + RELOAD or CTRL + RELOAD (depending on browser). You'll see the menu with an error in it. Then go back and try your widget again.
Please let me know how this turns out for you. -
Inappropriate? We have all done this -- many times over. That was already suggested in the blog. I even uninstalled Firefox and Flash 10, and reinstalled them after rebooting. That resolved some other problems with using your Widgetbox Website, but the dynamic sizing feature on the widget remained a problem as described even with Firefox 3.5 latest update using Flash 10.
I’m frustrated
-
Steffanie,
We're changing things in between the times that you've done this. In between our changes to resolve issues with your ISP(s) potentially caching corrupted files, we have to rule out caching all the way down to your client each time. I'd love for there to be another way, but there isn't one.
Dynamic sizing is a separate issue that we're aware of for non-pro users viewing widgets with ads. -
Inappropriate?I am a Pro user, my customer is not a member at all. Neither of us could resolve the issues with dynamic sizing. When logged in using the Developer Tools, to Edit that widget, I could not see it. I could change it and get the code, but the "loading circle animation" was all that appeared for the widget. I believe that is the Flash icon that appears when loading. The widget worked fine where installed, however, except the Get Widget did not work as many people are describing in this thread. You cannot get the code. I was able to get the code using Firefox 3.5 after I reinstalled the browser and software. Obviously having to do all of this for people to grab and use your widgets is not viable.
We have never seen any ads with our widget and do not want to.
As for ISP, we are using Time Warner cable Road Runner high speed business. -
The spinner that we use in the menu is the same spinner that Flash uses, but it's ours. It has to due with a corrupt version of installer.swf, which is what that menu file is. That's what we're trying to fix. Unfortunately, once you load a corrupted file, you may need to clear your cache to get the corrected version. The file was corrupted once and corrected, but now we have to fix this for those of you that are stuck with the bad file. It's a big pain in the butt, I know.
Anyhow, in the end, I still need someone to try clearing their cache (again) to see if the issue is still occurring from the at the network, CDN, load balance, and ever other level. This does not happen for all users. New users are fine, which is why I can't check this myself. I don't have the corrupted file on my machine. -

Inappropriate?i have made six widgets with you today and loaded them to my desktop web pages - however - after doing all that i have found that the "get widget" button does absolutely nothing so am pretty frustrated that i have done all that work for no reason - i have not transferred the new page to my site as yet as it seems pointless!
I’m annoyed
-
Hi there,
The GET WIDGET button will either link out to your widgets (if they have config) or pop up a menu. If you're not seeing the menu, you could either have some JS settings messed up or a bad version of flash.
Can you post the widgets on a page somewhere on the internet and post a link for me please? -
hiya dave
i have just loaded the page - http://www.myangelcardreadings.com/ch... and strangely it all seems to be working now - but so are the adverts all over the widgets! i didn't realise the ads completely covered them until now.
so - i am thinking of going pro if all continues to work okay - but first i will see if my widgets get approved - they are all pending at the mo - except one, which is "in development" but not in the gallery.
i need to find out if all widgets are placed in the gallery and how quickly - whether pro or not - please advise me - thank you!
also how much is going pro in GB pounds and can i pay through paypal if i decide to go ahead? -
Sounds like you had a Javascript error going on. Sometimes browsers can spaz out and throw those in certain conditions.
Generally approval time for widgets is about 3-5 business day max for non Pro users and 1-3 business days max for Pro users.
I'm not sure of the conversion to the Pound at this point (I bet google could give you an exact number), but you can use Paypal as long as you have a credit card associated with your paypal account (this is a requirement from Paypal).
Hope this helps! -
thanks for that - i will give it some thought - and do all approved widgets automatically go into the galleries? ( i have a few Angel ones i would like to add that link to my site).
thanks again! -
Yes, anything submitted to the gallery is either approved (and then listed) or rejected (therefore not listed). -
Inappropriate?thank you, i will wait to see when all is approved okay (i have made 10 widgets now) and will most probably go pro at that point to lose the ads.
my stats are telling me that some of my widgets have been viewed loads of times, lol, a bit confusing as they are not listed yet!
