Facebook Fan Page RSS App Won't Load
I just upgraded my Pro account so I could add some of your awesome apps to my Facebook Fan Page. While I have a question about the header, I'll wait on that until this other issue is resolved. I designed the RSS/Blog app to my specs and submitted it to my page, but it just continues to load. I closed my browser and then went directly into my page and clicked on the tab, but it still appears to be loading. I have to say, this is far superior to the original Facebook "notes" page which is pretty buggy in itself. One other thing, I read your email this morning and followed the thread about fan pages on Mashable. Someone had posted their page in the comment section which used a competitor of Widgetbox. When I went to their page, I enountered the same problem. Is this a Facebook issue or a browser issue. I'm currently running Explorer 8.

I have this problem, too!
Tell me when someone solves it.
The more people who report this problem, the more it gets noticed.

Inappropriate?Hey Whiwo,
I haven't seen this issue, but if you post a link to your Fan Page (with the app installed), I'll check it out in some different flavors of IE and see if I can reproduce the issue.
Since you mentioned another app was having a similar issue, it certainly could be or have been a Facebook issue or a network/client issue somewhere on your side.
Post that link and we'll see what we can find out.

Inappropriate?Duh, I guess that would help. http://www.facebook.com/partyfavorz. Also, I set the RSS app as my landing page, and that didn't work either. I also noticed that I had previously tried to use this app which I guess you guys have listed in the FB app store and it didn't work then either. In fact, same issue. Just in case, I made sure I deleted that and the note's tab which already had my feed going through it, just so there wouldn't be any problems. I'm interested to see what you find, because there are several apps I would like to use and run them through your service that also don't work. Checking those message boards, I know I'm not the only one (namely 'discograpny' and 'podcast player'). One thing at a time.

Inappropriate?Somewhat unfortunately, I wasn't able to repro this on any browser in the office:

If you're still seeing this, it could be a Facebook issue, but I'd check first to see if your security settings, firewall, popup blocker, or something similar are blocking you. Try another browser, another computer, etc.

Nope, that's the actual fan page I'm looking at in the screenshot, in IE8. I also checked IE6 and IE7, Firefox, and Safari. If you're getting the blue loading bars, these are Facebook's bars. I stand by my above opinion that this is most likely a client-side issue. -
Inappropriate?Okay.

Inappropriate?Alright Dave, since I'm stuck with the service for the full 30 days, I'm trying to make the best of it so I can keep it. Here is the error message at the bottom of the page I'm receving when I try to access my blog page:
Webpage error details

I still can't upload the capture image even though it's smaller than 2mbs. Hopefully this will help. I've also sent an email to all of my followers on Facebook and elsewhere, asking them to go to my fan page and then post on the wall as to what exactly they see. I've set the blog page to be my landing page, but as of yet it's not honoring my request. Hopefully, the information above will help you figure out what my problem is and the responses I get back from other people might provide some more input.
Out of curiosity, does this app have to be listed in the Widgetbox Gallery to work?
Thanks Again.
I’m frustrated

Looks like this one came in after I was out last night. No, there is no gallery listing for Facebook pages apps.
The error above is a Facebook AJAX error. -
Inappropriate?Okay, I installed Firefox and checked my page. Initially, I received the same error. After closing everything out and going back into it, it worked however the left side was all jumbled. So, I went back and edited the app and removed the placeholder pic logo that displays when the widget is unavailble, and that corrected the issue. However, you have to press play to get the actual widget to show up. I then rebooted the computer and went back into it and this time the widget showed up and automatically loaded. So then, I went back via Explorer and continued to experience the same problem. I've checked everything, Pop-ups aren't an issue, since there are none, firewall not an issue and Facebook had already been added to my trusted sites. Considering that 60% of my followers use Explorer about 20% Firefox and the rest other, this is critical for me.
Having wasted an entire day yesterday and most of my morning on this very issue, I think I should let it go. I did Google my problem only to find at least two other people with the same issue within the last thirty days that apparently went unresolved. This is the very reason I wanted to try before I buy, but you indicated that that was not something you were doing at this point. Then I read a post you made indicating that Pro users were given that very opportunity.
Ultimately, I think this should go back into beta, because I do think that there are browser compatiblity issues as well as with Facebook. This is very disappointing, because I really wanted to use this service. For now, I'll just stick with my basic Pro service. If in the future, if all these issues get resolved, then please feel free to drop my an email and I'll consider trying the service again.
Thanks.

Inappropriate?Just some bullet points to keep it brief:
1. You can trial now if you don't have an existing pro subscription.
2. You can try before you buy on the /facebook/pages page before making the application to see how all of the interactions work (including the sidebar widget that requires you to click).
3. The click to play is a feature due to Facebook requirements that Flash cannot play on a profile page or in a tab without user interaction.

Inappropriate? Thanks Dave, I'm just going to let it go for now. However, that click to play might just be understable regarding embeded flash objects. I was following the threads on similar issues to which you responded. Anyway, some girl posted a link to her page which I went to check out. She had a giant flash app of some sort that covered a good portion of the page. As it was loading, my antivirus went off and shut it down. It appeared to be some sort of javascript (.js) trojan. So now, I've got another issue to take care of...LOL. I'll start scanning is soon as I finish up around here. Thanks again.

Inappropriate?Sure thing whiwo. Sorry you had to go through so much pain trying to get your page setup.
As an aside, those virus warnings can be iffy. It certainly could be a legit virus, but it's also not uncommon for virus detection software to get confused by complicated javascript. Hope that helps give you a headstart on your next obstacle!
Have a good one,
Dave
