Blogs in wrong category?
Are there any standard criteria for blogs being in a certain channel? For instance, blogs.kxly.com seems to be about Northwest community politics and sports, but they are in the Television section. I don't mean to pick on them--I have no complaints about the blog itself, just wondering why they are in the category.
Some other blogs don't seem to fit, either. On some days I've looked in the widgetbox and only a few of the posts listed are actually about television.
Thanks for any clarification on this.

Inappropriate?Hey Valerie,
I can't promise much more than that we'll be sure to take a look to see if there's any blatantly miscategorized blogs in the network. Hopefully we'll be able to give you (the users) tools to vote out content that doesn't belong in the future, but for now, it's all manual and we have to be cautious of subjectivity.
Thanks for the heads up!
Dave

Thank you, Dave, for your reply. I appreciate you looking into it. I realize not all blogs are necessarily focused on one topic exclusively, so it can be hard to categorize them. It just seems like there should be at least a large number of posts on television. It could hurt the network if viewers look in the Television widgetbox and see nothing that deals with TV! :)
I think the voting capability could be useful, as long as it was still reviewed by you all to avoid abuse.
Thanks again for your reply!

Inappropriate?Dave, if you are still around, we have a blatant case of a blog being in the wrong category in the "Automobile" widget group... "The Real Proxy" has no connection, even remotely, with the Automobile category, yet it put itself into that category and immediately went to number 1 because it is a television show listing service... I suspect that certain blog creators look for categories where their site will rank #1 even if the topic has nothing to do with their site. This devalues Widgetbox and in blatant cases like The Real Proxy, the offending site should get the boot!
I’m frustrated

I'm not surprised at all, Ralph, as the Television category is overrun with "Watch free TV!" blogs now, so those blogs are now looking for other categories to dominate. I used to be 17th in the TV network, but with all the new spammy blogs I'm 62nd. -
Inappropriate?Hey Ralph,
I'll go look for this. If anyone wants blogs reviewed as quickly as possible for this stuff, just provide a link to their member page and I can dig right in.
Example:

You can get this by clicking their name in the Members lists

p.s. the real proxy is gone.
