Blidget crashes my site / won't load in IE 6
For some reason the Blidget I created on Widget box crashes my website when it's viewed in IE 6. I removed all other javascript and flash objects and only when I removed the widget from widgetbox did it load. Any help would be appreciated. I love the widget's capabilities and want to keep it on the site. Thanks!

Inappropriate?Hey Alex,
IE6 is a supported browser and is verified as working well. Can you put the blidget on a page where you're having this issue and post a link please? There may be something else on your page that freaks out when the blidget is present.
Also, IE6 is on it's way out on the web with IE8's marketshare growing, so completely aside from Widgetbox and this issue, it may be time to upgrade.

Dear Dave,
I already have upgraded my IE and use Firefox myself. I just want some of my users who are still utilizing IE 6 to get to the site. Here is a Link to a page where the issue is occuring.

Hey Alex,
I see the crash too, although when I take your widget code and install it anywhere else (testbeds, my other sites, etc), there is not an issue. Although removing the widget resolves the issue on your site, this leads me to believe that there's something else on your page causing the issue.
Out of curiosity, have you tried installing the javascript code instead? I'm just taking a shot in the dark, since it doesn't seem particularly related ot anything the blidget's doing, but I did notice it's some of the only flash on the page and you have a lot of JS going on. -
Dear Dave,
Thanks for being so quick with your help! It's awesome! I just swapped the embed code with the javascript and it still crashes. There are times where I was able to get it to load on IE 6 but it was only once every so often. Plus all the other objects have loaded but that one. Any other ideas? -
Correction it sometimes crashes I also get Flash Player Security errors or it loads fine it depends. -
Looks like it's something in these JS files:
Home_files/mootools.js
Home_files/caption.js
When I remove both (not only one), the page stops crashing. I'd be willing to bet that there's something in those JS files that recursively inspects the DOM (or some similar action) that's choking when it sees the blidget for some reason. -
Thanks again for all your help. I did remove the 2 scripts that you suggested, but it still crashes right when it trys to load the blidget in IE 6. Is this more of an issue with some version of flash in IE 6? because the blidget has no problems in IE 7, IE8, Safari and Firefox. -
Inappropriate?Hi Alex,
Make sure you have the latest version of Flash in IE6 if you don't already because that certainly could be a cause.

Dear Jeff and Dave,
Thanks for all your help. I kept troubleshooting and tried removing those scripts. I also then was trying to disable the Blidget in IE 6 so those users can see the page. Somehow all the IE 6 browsers I try can now see the page and have no issues. They hiccup every once in a while but nothing continual. I will keep you posted if the issue comes up again but thanks for all your help! It was really useful!
