Suggestor started following the question "Is there an easy way to CLONE one of my widgets?" in Widgetbox.
A comment on the problem "Amazon Associate-ID sent on Header, but not Detail/Item" in Widgetbox:
Yes, this is Fixed! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
p.s. Amazon tracks 'unique hits' differently than you (by a factor of 20x more or so?...). Some differences are to be expected...will do more testing...(i.e. get ready - is YOUR unique hits counter working correctly?)...but that will be a ways' away - right now I have to finish some widgets!
Thanks again! – Suggestor, on June 20, 2009 15:18

A comment on the question "Widgets won't load..." in Widgetbox:
It appears that our browsers store/cache this stuff differently than we expect (not sure why it seems to affect the widgets and not other stuff, though...).
You've got to completely clear the browser's cache. I've googled enough about this to find out clearing the cache(s) within the browsers is 'flakey'). ADAWARE has a nice feature under their "+" (plus) options to clear cache, cookies, etc. from IE, FF AND Opera. I just used it (Adaware) to clear FF's cache and cookies - The widgets are working/loading MUCH better now...
ymmv, of course. – Suggestor, on June 19, 2009 17:20
A comment on the question "Widgets won't load..." in Widgetbox:
Yes, the control-refresh (or shift-refresh) problem is with us again. On some of my webpages that have widgets, when you first go to the page, they (the widgets) don't always appear. I use FF, so a control-refresh brings it up properly.
The same thing occurs when I try to edit a widget in my widgetbox account - it 'hangs' unless I control-refresh... – Suggestor, on June 19, 2009 16:13

It appears this may be fixed. Did you do it? If so, Thank you VERY much! If you didn't do it, Thanks, also.
Now that it appears to be working correctly, I will need to edit some of my existing widgets (and then wait a day for the stats) to be sure...
THANK YOU! (or whoever/whatever fixed it...) – Suggestor, on June 19, 2009 15:47

Suggestor shared an idea in Widgetbox on June 15, 2009 19:05:
When Creating New Widget, Shouldn't default be NOT in Gallery?I have a Suggestion (Imagine That!):
Please make creating a new widget default to NOT in GALLERY.
I just created a new widget that wasn't even finished - before I could say 'Blidget', it was Listed! In the Gallery...
Yikes, some of this (my) stuff will NEVER belong in the Gallery...
Thanks!

False Alarm, maybe?
I did a 'clear-cache-refresh (I use ctrl-reload, shift-reload may work, too) - Again - and the 'get widget' and testing and test in flash wrapper are now working... – Suggestor, on June 15, 2009 14:03

Bump...
Any answers?...any Idea how long this may take? Should I use my 'workaround'? – Suggestor, on June 15, 2009 13:43
Suggestor replied on June 15, 2009 13:37 to the problem "Get widget button doesn't work?" in Widgetbox:
Well, I wasn't having this problem until this morning - I tried the 'fix' (going to the test site) above and got the same results as Tony (2 post above). It ('get widget' or 'place widget' in my Widgetbox account) still fails on every widget (some in the gallery).
And a new issue...If I try to 'test and get' an existing (working) widget, I get to step 5 - "complete testing", and the 'Done' button is grayed-out and will not proceed - also the get widget button does not work here, either...
Don't know if it is related, but I did not have/notice this problem until this morning, immediately after I signed up as a widget developer (and got their API key) on Typepad (i.e. Typepad and Widgetbox are 'hooked' to each other in some way...).
FYI, If I click on an installed widget on my site, the 'Get Widget' feature DOES work.-

A comment on the problem "can't proceed with make blidget and rss feed url input" in Widgetbox:
I have always used ctrl (control) -reload to do a 'clear cache refresh' - I should have tried that before posting. Yes, it fixed the Login Problem - Thanks! (shift-reload may/probably works for clear cache reload, too - I've always used ctrl-refresh...is there a difference between the two?). – Suggestor, on June 14, 2009 05:00
A comment on the question "Get Widget Tab not passing parameters of instance" in Widgetbox:
This sounds like the same type of problem I am having with passing the Amazon Associate-ID (see the related problem thread - company says they are still working on it...)
Could this solution work for my problem/widget(s)?

Suggestor replied on June 14, 2009 02:59 to the problem "can't proceed with make blidget and rss feed url input" in Widgetbox:
I'm not sure if this is related, however,
With Firefox (FF3), I cannot LOGIN. The login button does NOTHING. The "My Widgetbox" Icon flashes when pressed but doesn't do anything. Explorer (IE7 and 8) work properly.
I can access my account from a computer w/ FF3 that has auto-login (i.e. logged in before and told FF to save login...).
For the last few days, the screen to test 'view widget in flash wrapper' fails on widgets that used to pass that test. The screen gets 'grayed-out' and hangs, never displaying an error or the widget. This occurs with all my browsers: IE7, 8, FF3

Would there be anything wrong with using the workaround that I found until the issue is resolved?
I'm anxious to get these working correctly on my site...Thanks. – Suggestor, on June 11, 2009 23:42
A comment on the problem "Amazon Associate-ID sent on Header, but not Detail/Item" in Widgetbox:
Interesting...FYI...For test purposes, I set up a feedburner feed for the same as I use in widgetbox. I then used the output from the feedburner feed in widgetbox - and THAT WORKS CORRECTLY! It appears widgetbox still adds a few extra 'ref...' chars, but it DOES tack on the ID at the end.

This is a kludge (band-aid) solution, but perhaps it will help track down the problem... – Suggestor, on June 11, 2009 18:50

That's good to know. For once (lol), it's not 'just me'. Hope you pinpoint it soon, I have some good widgets to release....
(after this is resolved) Is there a way to implement a drop-down box for another user to input their own ID? Or any other method to allow it to be changed by another user? – Suggestor, on June 10, 2009 17:48
