    You can also try running Internet Explorer with Add-ons disabled. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). If you're able to view widgets after that, then it's an IE 8 Add-on that's causing the problem. Guess and check which Add-on is preventing these widgets from displaying by going to Tools > Manage Add-ons in Internet Explorer. Try disabling each Add-on until you've figured out which one causes the problem.

    Also, you can try resetting Internet Explorer's settings by going to Tools > Internet Options > the "Advanced" tab and then clicking the 'Reset' button.
