Bill Carson asked a question in Widgetbox on February 01, 2009 19:38:
My widgets don't show up in the search results. Two of my approved widgets are not in the Gallery results. But if I click a keyword tag, then I can find them.
In other words, if I perform a search using your site search, I can't ever find my widgets. If I click one of the keyword tags in the gallery or on my widget's download page, I can find them.
The problem is, I'd like to be able to find my widgets normally, like everyone else.
But, oddly, atlaslabs' Amazon widgets (for example) aren't prohibited or censored (or whatever the deal is).
I can query my other widgets by name and find them, no problem, all except the two widgets mentioned above.
I've tried several search terms and rifled through a hundred pages and can't find them in the search results.
Why aren't my widgets listed in the Gallery results?

BTW, he's still doing it. Spamming the Widget Gallery, that is.
Will you delete all his SPAM please, and explain how he's doing it without your being aware.
Thanks.

RE: atlaslabs
He's still doing it.
But now he's staying under the radar by giving himself four stars instead of five. He's spamming Amazon product clouds and Amazon Carousels and Amazon MP3 clips widgets.
Coincidentally, my own Carousel and MP3 widgets do not show up in a search of your gallery AT ALL. Yes, it's very troubling, to say the least.
1. How is atlaslabs adding widgets directly to the gallery?
2. And how is atlaslabs giving himself 5 votes of 4 stars each on a new widget he just submitted?
3. Is it OK to saturate (ie., SPAM) the Gallery with substandard affiliate widgets when one widget (that accepts keywords) will do?
Is he an employee or a friend of yours?

Looks like he's adding widgets to the gallery without going through the approval process.
Instead of creating a more versitile widget that accepts keywords, he is using the same code and simply adding different band names. He's posting about a hundred a day.
I'm suspicious. Explain please.

A comment on the question "Allow the user to configure widget height ONLY. Possible?" in Widgetbox:
Thanks.
I'd like to encourage the user to adjust the height by making it a configuration option, but prevent him from adjusting the width because of the layout.
It would be useful for the the developer to be able to restrict the widget's dimensions to the size(s) he intends.
Hope to see it implemented! :) – Bill Carson, on January 16, 2009 20:01

Bill Carson asked a question in Widgetbox on January 16, 2009 19:12:
Allow the user to configure widget height ONLY. Possible? In the widget customization process, when a user is customizing a published widget, I would like to hide the dimension settings and allow the user to type in a specific height for the widget.
The reason I want to hide the normal dimension boxes is so the user cannot adjust the width - only the height.
Is this possible? Can I hide the dimension settings from the user and allow him to set the widget.height variable using the configuration form instead?
Bill Carson replied on January 16, 2009 00:22 to the question "How do I allow the user to set the widget.height parameter?" in Widgetbox:
More info:
I'm trying to allow the user to adjust the size of widget's frame. I would like to have a drop-down menu with three choices which sets the height of the widget.
I actually think I was able to do it before just by creating a drop-down menu which set a "height" parameter to the desired height and it worked... I just don't remember how I did it. And it doesn't seem to work now.
I'm wondering if I used "widget.height" or just "height" as a parameter name. If I used "height" as a parameter name, isn't that just a user-defined variable and not a system variable?
It's a little confusing. I'm thinking I should use "widget.height" as a parameter name to directly reference the widget's height, but that doesn't seem to work either.
